Hugo Bolio is a Technical & Operations Executive with global professional development in the cement, minerals and construction industries. He is the Founder & Director of Orchestrating Expertise, his consulting agency. Additionally, he is currently Project Director and Materials Scientist at Energy Vault, a gravity-based energy storage system.
Previously, Mr. Bolio held positions with global responsibility at CEMEX in Monterey and the US for +30 years, as VP of Global Operations & Technology, EVP of Cement Operations & Technical, Senior VP of Technology, among others. He was responsible for setting, executing and steering the Operations Strategy for the Cement Division and Technology in CEMEX US and the Technological Agenda of the Company on materials, processes & products. These responsibilities have allowed him to develop managerial and coordination capabilities for multinational, multicultural and/or geographically dispersed teams.
Has led global corporate responsibilities of Health & Safety, Engineering & Projects, Unit Operations for Cement Production, Research & Development, Intellectual Property Management, Procurement, Operational Excellence (Lean based), Geology & Mines, Reliability & Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Operations Governance & Performance, Digital Evolution and Cement Operations Talent Development amongst others.
Hugo holds a PhD and MSc in Solid State Chemistry from University of Aberdeen.
